Big Spenders Drop $108,357.80 in 2 Hours at Dubai Club

link: http://www.weirdasianews.com/2012/01/17/big-spenders-drop-10835780-2-hours-dubai-club/

best line in this article: "A 10% gratuity was added automatically, meaning all the time I spent in grad school is essentially worthless in the eyes of a server at a Dubai nightclub."

my kindle clippings

from Benjamin Franklin's The Way to Wealth: A 52 brilliant ideas interpretation, by Steve Shipside

• The way we measure productivity is flawed. People checking their BlackBerry over dinner is not the measure of productivity.

• As the French playwright Jean Giraudoux once put it '...The secret of success is sincerity. Once you can fake that you've got it made.'

• He who promises runs in debts.

• And if you genuinely don't think you have any failings then you can put 'lack of self-awareness' right slap at the top of your list.

• We think in generalities but we live in detail.

• Gain may be temporary and uncertain, but ever while you live, expense is constant and certain.

• Doing nothing sounds like bliss when you're busy and stressed, but in fact doing nothing is not the antidote to stress--far from it. if you can't clear your mind of work then your downtime is likely to become an extension of your working worries, and a festering, stagnating extension of them at that.

• One today is worth two tomorrows.
